Shoeshine Polish
The Stranger’s Song
I saw you, friends, on many days
Seven weeks, at the most.
Though, seems – the short phase
The end written, this chapter closed
We knew, and will never forget
7 guys, there were
Soldier’s man, ‘Ammar
And Hermy, the kinder
Jo had the steely bar
Wise Matt, the sleepy one.
Then the elders, 18 this year
Chun Ti tall, from Taiwan
Marc, admirable leader ere
Faithful Izhar, Victorian Son.
So 7 young men, they were.
From the court, came the ladies,
Caged courtesans not, but free spirits
Joyous sportswomen, one’s Beatrice
Alyssa the agile, full of wits
Josç, fragile yet sharp shooter
Sui Wei, sweet wunderkind
Pro-player, came Swee Sin
The Damai girls, and Nadine
8-points shooter, marvelous Celine
They never cease, the daily ritual
Studious, 3 hopefuls, I pray thy song
Yan Ru, note-taker
Then curly-haired Chia Fong.
Xin Yi, bright-eyed chance maker.
For all and the last, we hope you the best.
Five girls, sweet and demure.
Michelle, gentle friend of every other
Ming Xiu, quiet one, so pure.
Xin Yu, responsible other
Interesting girls, Jencen and Hui Hoon.
4 young ladies, independent friends
Mus, caring student from Surabaya
Adventurous one, Jehanne is
Weng Xin, heartful of fire
And dear kind soul, Sharon
Many days we spent, for the better
Students we were, friends we are
Fate and the Lord brought us together
This bond; this friendship, none shalt mar.
We knew and will never forget.
